Hey everyone! It’s Veena here. I am a model and a fashion writer and I’m excited to be writing my first post as a style contributor for Pagepink’s Pink’s Scoop.
Fashion Weeks are upon us, and it’s such fun to browse the new collections as they roll out onto the runways of all four fashion capitals. London Fashion Week never fails to impress, and I was particularly taken with the beauty and hair looks of three different designers this season: Vivienne Westwood, Topshop Unique and Preen by Thornton Bregazzi – all prominent designers who showcased their latest collections just a few weeks ago at London Fashion Week.
Looks from Topshop Unique:
I adore the way the models were styled for Topshop Unique’s runway show; their cropped windswept blonde tresses were both fresh and glamorous, and the ladies with longer tresses boasted a simple half-up ‘do that kept their hair off their faces as they strutted down the runway.
I love how achievable this look is: I’ve recently begun using small claw clips to pull back my hair from the crown of my head and secure it at the centre of the back of my head, letting the rest of my hair fall loosely like the second-from-left image above. Tousle the remainder of your hair gently with sea salt spray (my favorite is from Toni & Guy!) and you’re good to go. If you’ve got some extra time on your hands, use a curling iron to create soft, loose curls and run your fingers through your locks for a natural finish.
Beautifully paralleling the modern striped clothing, daring hues and contemporary simplicity, the makeup looks at Topshop Unique featured dewy foundation for a sheer, flawless coverage, minimal contouring for a fresh-faced look and pops of matte coral lippy for an instant beauty update.
Looks from Preen:
Preen at London Fashion Week
Preen by Thornton Bregazzi is known for opulent prints, colorful clothing and summery fabrics, and the sun kissed model on the far right echoes those sentiments perfectly. Minimal makeup with an even layer of foundation perfectly complemented the slicked-back hair for a no-fuss look that let her kaleidoscopic outfit shine. Take cues from Preen this season; the next time you flaunt that tropical-hued maxi, do so with a slick ‘do and bare-faced makeup.
Looks from Vivienne Westwood:Â
Vivienne Westwood’s models graced the runway with sensual effortlessness. Hairstyles exuded lazy-Sunday glam at its finest, with both tight and loose buns piled atop the models’heads. Not a bad way to fake an extra few inches of height, not to mention getting your locks out of the way when you get down to some household chores!
For best results, replicate this hairstyle with elastics that are the same color as your hair for the most natural look. Westwood’s makeup looks this season were just as daring as they’ve ever been; models boasted bold statements inked across their foreheads and ink spatters painted on their faces. This theatrical, eye-catching and fearless touch perfectly contrasted the seemingly mundane outfit (above, second from right) and presented viewers with a whole new idea on how to update their look this season. Logo tees and caps, move over: the forehead tattoo might just become the next way to make a statement!
